Putuo Mountain is one of China's Four Sacred Buddhist Mountains, located in the Zhoushan Archipelago of Zhejiang Province. Puji Temple, also known as the "Front Temple," is the foremost of Putuo Mountain’s three major Buddhist temples. Established during the Northern Song Dynasty (1080 AD), it serves as the primary shrine of Guanyin (Avalokiteshvara), the Goddess of Mercy. The temple is vast in scale and attracts countless pilgrims, making it the spiritual heart of Putuo Mountain. Key structures include theHall of Heavenly Kings,Yuantong Hall(main Guanyin worship hall), andScripture Depository. Notably, Yuantong Hall can accommodate thousands of worshippers at once, earning its nickname "The Living Grand Hall." In front of the temple liesHaiyin Pool, adorned with three stone bridges symbolizing Buddhism’s "Three Gates of Liberation." The temple’s solemn and majestic architecture reflects the classic style of Chinese Buddhist monasteries.
