FAQ
What is energy jewelry?
Energy jewelry is a concept popular in the West, where bead bracelets, necklaces, or other accessories made from specific materials are believed to carry unique energies that provide personal benefits, such as motivation or balance, to the wearer. In the East, particularly in China, materials like obsidian, crystal, or jade are considered to have distinct spiritual properties. However, their energy derives not only from the physical attributes of the materials but also from complex cultural sources, including the Five Elements, Feng Shui, history, and religion. The jewelry on our website emphasizes authenticity, sourced from renowned Chinese mountains and temples and consecrated through traditional “kaiguang” (opening light) ceremonies by local masters, a characteristic widely recognized in Chinese culture.
Do you make this jewelry yourselves?
We do not manufacture any jewelry. In China, famous mountains and temples have institutions known as “Dharma logistics offices” (fawu liutong chu). These offices craft jewelry based on local culture, religious traditions, and temple practices, and they are consecrated by the temple’s masters through kaiguang ceremonies. This jewelry can be purchased near the temples. While it involves a transaction, both Buddhism and Taoism prefer to describe acquiring these blessed items as “forming a karmic connection” (jieyuan). For temples, this is a process of sharing “Dharma connections” with the public. In both Buddhism and Taoism, forming a karmic connection does not involve indiscriminate or cost-free giving, so paying a certain amount aligns with religious principles, as reflected in many Buddhist stories.
So, is your website more like a proxy purchasing platform?
To some extent, yes. We select jewelry, work with local buyers to ensure the items are authentic and consecrated through kaiguang ceremonies, and manage logistics, quality inspections, and other processes. However, we see ourselves as promoters of Chinese culture. Whether it’s Han Buddhism, Taoism, or Tibetan Buddhism, jewelry known in the West as “energy jewelry” has long existed in China with deeper cultural and religious significance, making it worthy of global appreciation.
